Oversized images slow down a website and fill up storage. A simple upload limit stops large files before they are saved.
Why limits matter
A server may accept a 64 MB file, but a blog image or product photo rarely needs that much. File size controls how much data is downloaded, not the image dimensions.
Set separate limits
Administrators and other users can have different limits. Start with a conservative value, such as 300 KB for web images, and adjust it for your content.
Prepare images before upload
Resize and compress photos before uploading. Keep a copy of the original file for print or archive use.
